This artwork is composed of prints of vintage postcards of Santa Barbara Fiesta days, copper lining and resin. This piece is a personal tribute to the memories and cultural ties close to my heart.
Drawing inspiration from vintage postcards that depict the lively Santa Barbara fiestas of yesteryears, I sought to blend the nostalgia of the past with a contemporary allure. My connection to Puerto Vallarta is deeply ingrained, having lived there multiple times. Paired with my fondness for Santa Barbara, these sister cities offer a treasure of shared experiences and cultural exchanges that inspire my creativity.
As an expression of my admiration, I decided to include a beloved symbol of Puerto Vallarta—the renowned "Dancers of Vallarta" statue—in the artwork. By intertwining this statue with the scene, I not only celebrate the vibrancy of Puerto Vallarta but also forge a meaningful connection between distant lands, infusing the piece with unity and festivity.
